What you're buying
One Home History Report from The Address Historian: a researched, cited PDF about one home anywhere in Cook County, Illinois. The price is $47 (USD), paid in full when you order through Stripe's secure checkout. There are no add-ons, tiers or subscriptions. One address per order.
Delivery
We email your PDF within 72 hours of payment, to the email address you give at checkout. All times are Central Time. Reports are PDF only; there is no printed edition yet.
Gifts. If you order a report as a gift, the PDF still comes to you, the buyer, not to the recipient, so you can forward it or print it and give it yourself.
Records check and refunds
You pay first; we check the records for your address right after. All sales are final, except: a full refund if the records are too thin (always confirmed by a person first), a full refund if delivery takes more than 72 hours, a free correction of any factual error, and a full refund for an order for a home outside Cook County. What the report is, and isn't
The report is a history built from public records and archives, and it always includes the chain of title we can document. Reports are historical research from public records and archives. They are not a title search, title insurance, a survey, or legal advice, and shouldn't be relied on for a purchase, sale or legal dispute. A report is also not an appraisal or an inspection, and it can't be used for a mortgage. What goes in depends on what the records hold for your address. Every fact is cited; anything we couldn't confirm is marked unverified, and gaps are stated.
What you tell us
Family stories or names you share are treated as leads, not facts. We only print what a record supports. For a gift, send the recipient's name and your message for the dedication page by replying to your order confirmation email within 24 hours of ordering, and we print the message as written. If it arrives later, we'll still include it if your report hasn't gone out yet.
Privacy
See our privacy notice. In short: your report goes only to you, we never name the current owner or the current owner's company or trust, and we leave out sale prices from roughly the last 25 years.
Using your report
The report is for your personal use. You may print it and share copies with family and friends. Historic images in it carry their own credit lines and rights.
Changes to these terms
The terms in effect when you order apply to your order.
Governing law
These terms are governed by Illinois law, and any dispute will be handled in the courts of Cook County, Illinois.
